12 November 2021, is a special day for me and for the Mangalore -Africa Mission (MAM). In 2012 (9 years ago) on this day with faith in God's calling and trusting in His Providence, Fr Ronald Pinto and myself left Mangalore. I remember, then Bishop Aloysius Paul D Souza after the Holy Eucharist in the morning at the Bishops House Chapel, along with our family members handed over the Mission Cross to both of us. After breakfast Bishop Aloysius and the bishops House fathers came personally to see us off at Mangalore Airport. In Mumbai we stayed with my cousin sister's convent "Dil kush" at Juhu.

Then on 14th November noon, we landed at Kilimanjaro airport for the first time. We received a warm welcome from the Vicar General of SAME Diocese, and Sr. Veena UFS at the airport. We stayed for 10 days at the SAME Bishop's House.

With the loving support of our then Bp. Aloysius Paul D Souza (now Emeritus) and Present Bp. Peter Paul Saldanha, mighty prayer intersessions from the faithful of the Diocese of Mangalore along with love and support of Bp. Rogath Kimario, Priests, religious and Faithful of SAME Diocese, coupled with the God's merciful love and blessing on our SMAM team work, we have come this far in this 9 years. Today we are happy to start the Decennial year.

For me this journey of faith was worth taking, with the Lord as our guide and leader. This faith journey was to taste His love, to experience His wonders, to receive his blessings and to live in His providence; through various known and unknown prayer partners, well-wishers and program partners. Our God is so awesome!

-Fr Alwyn M. J. D Souza
