On 28th of January 2020, Food and Agriculture Organization – United Nations (FAO-UN) Tanzania country representative Mr. Fred Kafeero along with his beloved wife visited the SJS organic centre for excellence. On arrival of guests, SJS director Rev. Fr. Alwyn M.J. D’Souza welcomed them to the centre. Mr. Martin & Sr. Leocadia welcomed them with garlands and the farm staff members were introduced.

After the welcome Mr. Fred & his wife planted the litchi plant saplings in the memory of their visit to SJS, followed by guests were taken to farm tour which took almost 2 hours. Mr. Fred was astonished to see the various organic farming activities conducted at SJS. He mentioned this is a place where people need to come for learning. He was really enthused to learn about the use of EM & rural technology in organic farming.

After the farm tour, during the formal gathering Mr. Kafeero was felicitated by SJS director for his visit and the time he has given. During his address Mr. Kafeero mentioned “The SJS is natural collaborators of FAO and FAO is happy to collaborate in the future activities of SJS”. He also mentioned to prepare the syllabus for the training courses and to submit the needs of the SJS to FAO office.
