Place: Immaculate Conception of Mary Parish Kifaru

On Sunday 5th of April 2020 Kifaru parishioners celebrated the Palm Sunday rituals. Palm Sunday commemorates the entrance of Jesus into Jerusalem (Matthew 21:1-9), when palm branches were placed in his path, before his arrest on Holy Thursday and his crucifixion on Good Friday. It thus marks the beginning of Holy Week, the final week of Lent.

On Palm Sunday there were 5 masses at 5 substations. Rev. Fr. Hilary Lobo at Kifaru, Rev. Fr. Alwyn M. J. D’Souza at Kivisini, Rev. Fr. Victor Machado at Kileo, Rev. Fr. George Crasta at Kalimani & Rev. Fr. Joseph Rodrigues at Jipe celebrated the masses at their respective substations. On that day all parishioners gathered with big number to celebrate the Palm Sunday Rituals.

Palm Sunday is the Sunday before Easter that begins the Holy Week. It is the day that we remember and celebrate the day Jesus entered into Jerusalem as Savior and King. As Jesus rode a donkey into the town of Jerusalem a large crowd gathered and laid palm branches and their cloaks across the road, giving Jesus royal treatment. The hundreds of people shouted "Hosanna to the Son of David! Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord! Hosanna in the highest heaven!"
