On 28th& 29th of September 2019 The Society of Mangalore Africa Mission organized two days Seminar cum workshop on Organic Integrated Agriculture & EM Technology. Dr. Freddie Acosta PhD. Senior Lecturer - Technology and Innovation Management, Strathmore Business School, Nairobi, Kenya was the resource person for the seminar cum workshop. Total 37 participants from different corners of Tanzania took part in the two days’ workshop.

Day 1: On 28th morning after the registration and breakfast the program began with prayer led by Sr. Elizabeth. During the introductory session SMA Mission Superior Rev. Fr. Alwyn M. J. D’Souza gave introductory note for the program and he introduced Dr. Acosta and Mrs. DomanaJoramMetta welcomed Dr. Acosta with garland, followed by Dr. Acosta gave his introduction and spoke about his life and how he turned from techy person to Organic agriculturist and then trainer.

During the day he took 5 sessions on topics as follows, A. Organic Agriculture Best Practices at Costless Nature Farms, B. Effective Micro-Organisms (EM),C.Making of Carbonized Rice Husks, D. Culture of Duckweed and Azolla, E. Practical Vermiculture, F. Urban Organic Gardening, G. Organic Pig Farming, Free Range Chicken, H. Integrated Pest Management. All sessions were enthusiastic and enriching, he also took practical session on how to prepare EMAS (Effective Microorganism Activated Solution)

Day 2: On Sunday all participants after the breakfast got ready to visit St. Joseph Sustainable organic Farm. Day was decided to have all of the practical session at the farm. As all delegates arrived at the farm Mr. Marti S. Mhando, Farm Agri-Technical Officer and Trainer; took them for the farm study tour. Almost two and half hour long study tour was though exhausting, yet it was most interesting and learning as it allowed the participants to know and understand almost 60+ activities which are taking place in St. Joseph farm. After the short tea break Dr. Acosta & farm staff members conducted the 9 practical experiments for the participants. After the Sunday Holy Eucharist celebrated by Fr. Alwyn; all participants travelled back to St. Joseph school for the rest of the workshop.  
    
After the short lunch break Dr. Acosta took 3 more sessions on Sales and Marketing, Agritourism and Training, Farm Layout Design and Planning. At 5pm during the concluding ceremony 3 participants shared their experience of workshop and thanked the organizers. His Excellency Dr. RogatusKimaryoC.S.Sp bishop of catholic diocese of same; after awarding the participants addressed them and thanked Dr. Acosta, further he congratulated the participants and appreciated the efforts of SMAM to organize the workshop. Dr. Acosta in his speech tanked all for the opportunity and cooperation during the workshop. Fr. Alwyn thanked the bishop for his presence, support and blessings on the mission activities. School headmaster Rev. Fr. Victor Machado and Parish Pastoral council chairman Mr. Bonaventura Maro were present for the program.
